Kathy's Profile
Art became a part of my world at a young age. My mother taught me to sew when I was eight years old. That was when I made my first pair of Animaniacs® shorts. I loved to draw and play with clay. I began making jewelry when I was about ten or eleven. I was hooked and I loved being the only girl in school with a newly made bracelet adorning my wrist. I began making jewelry for my friends as they noticed my new trends. I attended Lubbock High School (yes, the same high school Buddy Holly attended in the '50s) and filled every available period with art classes. My senior year, I was recommended for the jewelry class. This is where I learned most of my jewelry-making skills. My designs began to get more complex and my skills sharpened. I worked with metal, etchants, wire, and clay. I knew I had found my calling and I have all my wonderful teachers to thank (Suzanne Copeland and Sam King). In 2006, I met the love of my life, Andrew. About two years later, we welcomed our beautiful daughter, Betsy into the world. As he supports everything I believe in, he has helped me to achieve my goal to continue my education in art and build the design business I was destined to pursue. My family and loved ones are my inspiration and the world around me is my influence.
